Flipkart UPI’s Rs 1 Auto Ride During Peak Hour In Bengaluru Goes Viral; Internet Says ‘Start In Every City’

Walmart acquired desi e-commerce giant Flipkart pulled off a viral campaign in namma Bengaluru ahead of the Big Billion Day sale offering Re 1 auto ride for commuters. The locals didn’t miss the opportunity as Flipkart UPI offered Re 1 ride during peak hours in the Indian silicon valley to create excitement around its Big Billion Day sale. Per the company campaign note, the Re 1 auto ride flipped the narrative that one can hardly get anything for such an insubstantial price. The company partnered with OML (Only Much Louder) for the innovative campaign which commenced on September 20, 2024 and kicked off on September 26. The core of the campaign was to simplify digital payment while also alleviating the hassle of customers looking for autos at rush hours. The autos designated in the campaign were installed with Flipkart’s UPI as riders were offered Rs 11 cashback on all UPI transactions. Per media reports commuters made a beeline to avail of the Re 1 auto ride.

Meanwhile the internet reacted to the campaign with memes and reactions (some probably paid). Some users demanded that the campaign be launched across other cities in India as well.
