Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Shuts Down Rumors of $600M Aspen Wedding to Lauren Sánchez; Elon Musk Reacts

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has denied reports claiming he planned to spend $600 million on his upcoming wedding to Lauren Sanchez in Aspen, Colorado, calling them “completely false.”

“This whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening,” the 60-year-old Bezos wrote on social media in response to the rumors on Sunday morning.

Referencing the famous saying, “don’t believe everything you read,” Bezos added, “This is more true today than ever. Now lies can spread around the world before the truth even has a chance to catch up. So be careful and don’t be gullible.”

Bezos’ denial came after a post from fellow billionaire Bill Ackman, CEO of Pershing Square, who dismissed the rumored wedding price tag as “not credible,” stating that such an extravagant amount would only make sense “if you were buying each guest a house.”

The Daily Mail was the first to report the claims, citing a “well-placed source” who allegedly revealed that the ceremony would be held at actor Kevin Costner’s 160-acre ranch in Aspen.

According to the outlet, the wedding—reportedly set for the following weekend—was said to feature a mountaintop ceremony with “private mansions” reserved for each guest in the exclusive mountain resort town.

As news of the Amazon founder’s rumored lavish wedding gained attention, SpaceX and Tesla owner Elon Musk was among those who reacted to Bezos’ post on X.

Musk wrote, “That said, I hope you do hold an epic wedding. It’s nice to know that epic events are happening somewhere in the world, even if one is not present. A world where amazing events are happening somewhere is better than a world where they are happening nowhere.”

Meanwhile, another user asked, “So how much are you actually spending on the wedding?” Many praised Bezos for addressing the rumors, with one commenter adding, “Thankful for verification checks and your input too.”
