Amid Salman Khan-Lawrence Bishnoi Row, Vivek Oberoi’s Past Remarks on Bishnoi Community Resurface Online

In a strange twist to the ongoing saga between Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, an old video of actor Vivek Oberoi praising the Bishnoi community has resurfaced, catching the attention of social media users. The video, originally from an event in Dubai last February, has now found new life online, stirring up fresh chatter about Oberoi’s own fraught history with Salman Khan.

In the clip, Vivek Oberoi passionately speaks about the unique relationship the Bishnoi community has with animals, specifically their deep reverence for wildlife. He says in Hindi, “Try looking up the Bishnoi community on Google. You won’t find a scene like this anywhere else in the world. In every household, including mine, we feed cow’s milk to kids. But there’s one community – the Bishnoi community – where if a fawn’s mother dies, Bishnoi mothers will feed the fawn milk as if it were their own child. This is something you won’t see anywhere else on the planet.”

What was once a heartwarming statement about a community’s connection to nature is now being viewed through a different lens. Social media users are quick to point out the irony of the situation, especially given the fraught history between Oberoi and Salman Khan. Some are even speculating that Oberoi’s admiration for the Bishnoi community may hold a deeper meaning in the context of the current controversy surrounding Salman and Lawrence Bishnoi. “Dushman Ka Dushman Lawrence Ka Dost” (An enemy of his enemy is Lawrence’s friend), quipped one user, while another suggested, “He’s adding fuel to the fire.”

For those unaware, Vivek Oberoi’s history with Salman Khan dates back to 2003, when Oberoi held a press conference accusing Salman of threatening him over his relationship with Aishwarya Rai, who had recently ended a high-profile and turbulent relationship with Salman. The fallout from that episode had long-lasting effects on Oberoi’s career, and the public feud between the two actors became the stuff of Bollywood legend.

Now, with this old video resurfacing, many are wondering if it’s just an unfortunate coincidence or if there’s more to it. After all, the timing couldn’t be more conspicuous. Lawrence Bishnoi, the gangster with a long-standing grudge against Salman Khan for the infamous blackbuck poaching incident of 1998, remains a menacing figure even behind bars. His alleged involvement in the recent killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, a close associate of Salman, has only intensified the scrutiny on the Khan-Bishnoi conflict.

The murder, which took place last week in Mumbai, is believed to have been orchestrated by Bishnoi’s gang, with a chilling Facebook post surfacing shortly after that read: “Jo Salman Khan aur Dawood gang ki help karega apna hisab-kitab laga ke rakhna” (Whoever helps Salman Khan and the Dawood Ibrahim gang, keep your accounts in order). The post was allegedly made by Shubuu Lonkar, thought to be an associate of the Bishnoi gang, and has added another layer of intrigue to the case.

As Salman Khan remains under heightened security due to the ongoing threats, Vivek Oberoi’s resurfaced video is adding a dash of irony to an already intense situation. While Oberoi’s comments about the Bishnoi community were innocent at the time, the internet loves nothing more than to connect dots—whether they exist or not.
