Browns QB Jameis Winston Quotes Iconic Rapper After Ravens Upset Win
The Cleveland Browns snapped their five-game losing streak on Sunday and handed their division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, their third loss of the season. The Browns now move to 2-6, while their division opponents move to 5-3.
The Browns, who came into this game as heavy home underdogs, with the Ravens being favored with a -7.5 spread, beat the odds and got a much-needed victory. Cleveland had nothing to lose with a 1-6 record entering Week 8 and without their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, who suffered a ruptured Achilles last week in their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Because of the loss of Watson, the Browns handed the keys to quarterback Jameis Winston. Winston, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, did enough to lead his team to victory and is first as a starter this season.
Winston is a character, and there is never a dull moment when he is in front of the camera. That was no different in his postgame interview with CBS sideline reporter Amanda Balionis. Winston delivered one of the more iconic postgame interviews, going as far as to quote the legendary and iconic rapper Eminem.
“You only get one shot. Do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity lasts once in a lifetime.”
Winston is quoting the song “Lose Yourself,” which was released in 2002. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, making it the first hip-hop song to receive the award. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance.
Winston certainly didn’t shy away from the challenge and did his part to lead the Browns to this upset victory. Winston completed 27-of-41 passes for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions in the win. He was only sacked twice and finished with a 115.3 passer rating.
The Browns recorded 401 total yards, only turned the ball over once, and controlled the time of possession 31:06 minutes compared to the Ravens 28:54 minutes.
Cleveland lost Watson for the year, so they had no choice but to rely on Winston, and he was everything to them and then some. The offense looked fluid and was efficient and effective, with four of their pass catchers receiving five-plus receptions and going for over 60+ yards each.
Second-year wide receiver Cedric Tillman was the team’s yards leader, with 99 yards, seven receptions on nine targets, and two touchdowns.
The Browns earned their first home victory and will look to carry this momentum with Winston next week against the Los Angeles Chargers at home.
