‘Can’t Buy, Please Send Onion Bhaiyaa’ User’s Note To Restaurant Goes Viral; Swiggy Instamart’s Co-founder Reacts
A user on Reddit posted the Swiggy bill online for an order placed by his flatmate. The invoice for the dish costing Rs 171 has a hilarious note appended. It reads, “Bhaiyya, please send round-cut onions. Bhaiyaa please.” The customer further adds, “Onions bahot costly hai, I can’t buy.” The user pleads, “Please send onions, bhaiyya thoda.”
While the OP rightly anticipated media houses picking up the bite from subreddit for lack of content, one user turned sleuth and claimed the dish was ordered from a renowned Delhi eatery, Bikkgane Biryani. The food delivery giant seemed to lend an ear to the social media chatter, and per reports, its quick commerce subsidiary, Swiggy Instamart, is now selling onions at Rs 39. Phani Kishan, the co-founder of Swiggy, announced the onion flash sale between 7 and 8 pm on X/Twitter, stating that they feel the customer’s pain.
A few skeptical netizens believe that the entire drama is a fake PR scheme to drive engagement. Meanwhile, shark Anupam Kher’s Shaadi Dot Com reacted to the post, “Onion ring to start ho gaya par engagement ring ka kya?” Meanwhile, the price of onions has become the leading cause of bland dishes and salads in metros. The humble pyaaj is priced at around Rs 80 per kilogram in Delhi and Mumbai.
