Four people arrested in police chase in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Police have revealed details of an operation where four people were arrested for supplying drugs at the Buttersyke Bar roundabout close to Harrogate.

“At around 5pm, a vehicle which was suspected to be linked to drugs was sighted on the A61 near Harewood. An officer attempted to stop it, but the driver sped away and items were discarded from the window which were later recovered,” said a spokesperson for the force.

After this, a stinger site was set up further down A61, which was successful and further units flooded into the area before forcing the vehicle to a stop by the Buttersyke Bar roundabout.

Two people in the car were arrested in the vehicle and a hammer was found, whereas the other two suspects led the scene ran.

One of the men was apprehended by police dog Rhun and his handler whereas the other was stopped by officers on foot.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of resist arrest, possession with intent to supply a class A drug, possession with intent to supply a class B drug and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, possession with intent to supply a class B drug and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, possession with intent to supply a class B drug, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, theft, driving with no insurance, and fail to stop for the police.

All four suspects were later released on conditional bail whilst the police investigation continues.
