Govinda’s Daughter Tina Ahuja Stirs Debate by Calling Period Pain Psychological; ‘Only Girls From Bombay..’

Actor and politician Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, recently sparked controversy on social media with her remarks about period cramps. Tina attributed menstrual pain to “psychological” factors, claiming that women in smaller cities typically do not experience such discomfort, whereas it is predominantly discussed in Delhi and Bombay.

In an interview with Hautterfly, Ahuja claimed that she has never experienced menstrual pain and suggested that “only girls from Bombay speak about cramps.” She further added that women who don’t naturally experience cramps might start feeling them due to “psychological” factors.

Ahuja also shared her personal health approach, attributing her lack of period cramps and back pain to a traditional lifestyle that includes a diet rich in ghee and prioritizing sleep. She also suggested that many women suffer from discomfort due to extreme dieting, which she believes contributes to hormonal issues.

She stated, “Maybe my body is a little desi. I have never had any back pains. Everything is perfect, 28-day cycle. But here, I see girls always talking about it. You eat your ghee, stop dieting so much, get a good night’s sleep, and everything becomes normal.”

Tina’s mother, Sunita Ahuja, supported her daughter’s views, suggesting that a healthy, traditional lifestyle could prevent such issues.

This conversation sparked a massive debate online, most of them criticising Ahuja for dismissing period pain. One user wrote, “Mujhe ladka hoke pata hai yeh jhooth bol rahi hai. I have seen women close to me facing this, ig that it might be different for every women but to dismiss it altogether is ridiculous”, while another commented, “Conditions like PCOD, Endometriosis, fibroid, or as simple as hormonal imbalance due to stress doesn’t see Desi or videsi body. If they happen, they happen.”

Some of the other comments on the matter were “As a doctor, LOL.love the confidence they have to spew such BS”, “I’ve never heard anything more stupid in my lifetime. Everyone is different and everyone’s bodies act differently.”, “Currently, I am experiencing cramps and back pain, hearing this ‘kachra’ is infuriating me!”, “the fact that she’s saying all this as a woman makes it so much worse bro whyyy 😭😭” and more.
