Kapil Sharma Responds To Backlash Faced Online After ‘Insulting’ Atlee, Says ‘Watch And Decide By Yourself…’
Recently, filmmaker Atlee Kumar appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show to promote Baby John. Atlee’s presence caused controversy after some social media users criticized Kapil Sharma’s question about the filmmaker’s looks. After facing backlash on social media, Sharma finally reacted to the accusations. Sharma denied insulting Atlee, urging people to watch the interaction and judge for themselves.
Sharma reacted to a social media user’s post on X (previously Twitter), which read, “Kapil Sharma subtly insults Atlee’s looks? Atlee responds like a boss: Don’t judge by appearance, judge by the heart. #Atlee #KapilSharma.”
The social media user also shared the video of Atlee’s interaction with Sharma on the show. Responding strongly, Sharma wrote, “Dear sir, can you pls explain to me where and when I talked about looks in this video? Please don’t spread hate on social media. Thank you. (Guys watch and decide by yourself; don’t follow anybody’s tweet like a sheep).”

The clip from The Great Indian Kapil Show features Atlee in a conversation with the comedian. Sharma asks the filmmaker, “Atlee Sir, actually, you are so young. Aur aap itne bade producer, director ban gaye hain. Kabhi aapke saath aisa hua hai ki aap kisi star se milne gaye first time aur usko laga hi naa aap Atlee ho. Usne kaha ‘Where is Atlee?’”
In response, Atlee said, “In a way, I understood your question. I’ll try to answer. I’m actually very thankful to AR Murugadoss Sir. Because he produced my first film. He asked for a script, but he didn’t see how I’m looking, and whether I’m capable of it or not. But he loved my narration. I think the world should see that. By appearance we should not judge, by heart you have to judge.”

Baby John actors Varun Dhawan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Keerthy Suresh also joined Atlee in the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show. Atlee made his directorial debut with the 2013 Tamil film Raja Rani, which stars Arya, Jai, Nayanthara, and Nazriya Nazim. The film was produced by AR Murugadoss. Atlee then went on to direct other films such as Theri, Mersal, Bigil, and Jawan.
