Madhu Chopra Reveals Priyanka Chopra Broke Down on ‘Krrish’ Set Due to Father’s Health, Hrithik Roshan Stepped In

Priyanka Chopra, who has often shared her close bond with her late father, has a tattoo on her wrist that reads “Daddy’s lil girl” in his handwriting. Her father passed away in 2013 after an eight-year battle with cancer, a period Dr. Madhu described as the “most vulnerable moment” of her life during an interview with the Something Bigger Show on YouTube.

Reflecting on the family’s efforts to get the best treatment for Dr. Ashok Chopra, Dr. Madhu recalled, “He was very ill. My brother said if you think he has a five percent chance of survival, bring him to Boston.” She added, “That was another challenge—getting him on a plane, as no airlines wanted to take such a seriously ill patient, even with disclaimers.”

At the time, Priyanka was filming Krrish. When Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan learned of the situation, they used their connections to help the family arrange Dr. Ashok’s transport to Boston for treatment. Dr. Madhu recalled, “It just so happened that Priyanka was shooting Krrish with Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan, so she shared her concerns with them. Hrithik asked, ‘Why are you crying?’ and then both father and son made it possible for the airlines to take us. They helped us by reaching out to their contacts.”

Dr. Madhu shared that her husband chose to keep his illness private, internalizing his struggles to protect the family. He requested that they not tell anyone, not even their relatives, and handle it alone. Dr. Madhu described how difficult it was to watch him weaken over time while he kept his anxieties and worries to himself. She felt distanced, not realizing that his decision was meant to shield her from additional concern. It was a challenging time for her, as she grappled with whether to fight, understand, or be gentle and patient with him.
