The national security adviser to Moldova’s pro-Western President Maia Sandu accused Russia on Sunday of significant interference in the ongoing run-off presidential election.
Stanislav Secrieru wrote on Sunday on the platform X: “We’re seeing massive interference by Russia in our electoral process as Moldovans vote in the presidential run-off today—an effort with high potential to distort the outcome. Authorities are on high alert.”
Authorities are reportedly alarmed by organized transport of voters to the polls in the breakaway region of Transnistria, where Russian troops are stationed, which Secrieru said is illegal.
Secrieru also reported that organized transport from Russia is being arranged with buses and charter flights to ferry voters to Baku, Istanbul, and Minsk. He shared a video circulating on social media that allegedly shows individuals holding their Moldovan passports on a plane heading to Minsk.
There had been prior complaints about the limited voting options for Moldovans living in Russia, with only two polling stations open in Moscow. He stated that the flight serves as clear evidence of a large-scale organized voter transport effort.
