Rupali Ganguly’s Stepdaughter Esha Tears Down Actress After Defamation Case; ‘Displays Their True Character…’

Popular television actress Rupali Ganguly, known for her role in Anupamaa, recently found herself entangled in a personal controversy that has gained significant public attention. Earlier this month, Esha Verma, Rupali’s stepdaughter, accused the actress and her father Ashwin Verma of having an extramarital affair and made other allegations about family dynamics. The claims quickly escalated into a heated legal battle, with Rupali filing a ₹50 crore defamation case against Esha. After this, Esha deleted her posts and even made her Instagram private.

After weeks of silence, Esha took to Instagram to share her side of the story. In a heartfelt post, she addressed the backlash she faced and clarified her intentions behind speaking out. She wrote, “For 24 years, I felt trapped in a reality I couldn’t escape. Sharing my experiences was my way of finding freedom and justice. My intention was never to cause harm but to shed light on experiences that shaped me.”

Esha emphasized her right as an American citizen to express herself honestly, while also asserting that her statements were based on her personal experiences. She denied Rupali’s claim of supporting her with auditions and professional endeavors, stating that she has no connections to the Indian entertainment industry apart from a single photoshoot in 2017. She added, “A child should not be punished for speaking their truth… Their response to my statement was disturbing, cruel, and displayed their true character.”

She also wrote that this would be her final statement about this matter. She wrote, “This will be my final statement on this matter. The purpose of this statement is solely to clarify any misconceptions and address uncertainties surrounding my story and the responses it has received. It is not intended to instigate further back and forth on this matter. I will not be participating in any interviews, further discussions, or commentary about this situation moving forward. My focus now is on healing, rebuilding, and embracing the next chapter of my life.”

The controversy took a legal turn when Rupali’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, confirmed the filing of a defamation suit against Esha. Following this, Esha archived the video in which she made the allegations and set her Instagram profile to private. Despite this, Esha continued to defend her stance, maintaining that her narrative focused solely on her own experiences and avoided involving minors or making false statements.

Esha is the daughter of Ashwin Verma and his second wife. Ashwin is currently married to Rupali Ganguly, with whom he has a son. Esha claims to have addressed her statements directly to Rupali and Ashwin, insisting that her comments were based on her observations and not meant to harm anyone.
